ProBor 50 is a ready-for-use wood preservative paste based on boron, a naturally occurring mineral with a long history of use. It is supplied in a 310ml cartridge for use with a standard mastic gun. ProBor 50 is designed to be injected into timber or masonry. It can also be applied to the surface of timber, although it should be noted that a white deposit will be left.
ProBor 50 is commonly used as a wood preservative when treating large dimension timbers. It is injected into timber via pre-drilled holes, thus ensuring complete distribution of the active ingredient deep within the wood. In general 10mm holes spaced no more than 150mm apart are recommended. The number of holes should be adjusted to give a product loading of 5.9 litres per cubic metre.
Other common areas of application include the treatment of joist ends and wooden window frames.
ProBor 50 is ideal for use as a masonry sterilant. Because of its highly concentrated formulation high levels of active ingredient can be injected into masonry without introducing large volumes of water. This is of enormous benefit when treating dry rot.

ProBor 50 replaces dated boron rod technology. Diffusion of ProBor 50 starts well below the 18-22% moisture level where wood becomes suscepible to dry rot. Boron rods do not start to diffuse until a moisture content of more than 30% is reached.

Renderguard Gold is a high-specification plaster additive that forms an integral part of the Safeguard Damp-proofing System (BBA Certificate Number 97/3363).

Following the installation of a remedial damp-proof course (using Dryzone damp-proofing cream or Dampcheck Plus) correct re-plastering is of the utmost importance. Even though the damp-proof course is effective, hygroscopic salts introduced by the rising damp may cause moisture to be attracted to the wall. This causes further dampness and decorative spoiling, giving the impression that the damp-proof course has not been successful. It is for this reason that re-plastering following the installation of a remedial damp-proof course must perform two functions:

• It must prevent the passage of residual moisture reaching the decorative surface during the drying process.
• It must prevent the passage of hygroscopic salts from the underlying masonry to the new decorative surface in order to prevent further spoiling.

When used as an additive to a 3:1 sand-cement render, Renderguard Gold will fulfil these requirements provided that the specification is strictly adhered to.

Where the use of a hard sand/cement render is not desirable, another option is to cover the wall using Oldroyd P Plaster Membrane. This allows a wider range of plasters to be used.

Raindance is a colourless water-repellent for masonry based on UV-resistant siloxanes. It can be used on old and new buildings to protect against rain penetration (penetrating damp) and to help keep masonry clean. Raindance does not block the pores in masonry so water vapour is able to escape (thus preventing the "spalling" associated with less advanced products).

Raincheck does not affect the natural finish of the substrate (although some darkening may appear). However when rainwater lands on the treated surface it will form droplets and run off, rather than soaking into the substrate.

Raindance is supplied as a concentrate that is diluted with tap water before use. It is applied to masonry by brush or coarse spray.

The performance of Raindance is affected by highly alkaline substrates such as new concrete and newly-pointed brickwork. Where these substrates are to be treated, the concrete / mortar should be allowed to cure for at least 28 days before Raindance is applied.

ProBor DB and ProBor 10 are liquid wood-preservatives based on boron, a naturally occurring mineral with a long history of use. ProBor DB is supplied as a concentrate in 6-litre packs which dilute with water to make 25 litres. ProBor 10 is supplied in 5 and 25-litre packs as a ready-for-use solution.
In their ready-for use form, both products have an active ingredient content of 10% and can be applied by brush or spray. They are suitable for the treatment of woodworm in all dry timbers and as part of a dry rot and wet rot control strategy in smaller dimension timbers (up to 19mm x 38mm). For the treatment of dry rot and wet rot in larger dimension timbers, ProBor 20 or ProBor 50 should be used.
ProBor DB and ProBor 10 are also suitable for use as masonry sterilants.

ProBor 20 is a ready-for-use wood preservative gel based on boron, a naturally occurring mineral with a long history of use. It is used for the treatment of dry rot and wet rot in larger dimension timbers (up to 25mm x 75mm). It is also effective against wood-boring insects and is particularly useful when treating infestations of Deathwatch Beetle.

The high level of boron active ingredient in ProBor 20, combined with its gel formulation provide for excellent penetration into timber - particularly damp timbers which are particularly vulnerable to fungal attack (dry rot and wet rot).

ProBor 20 Gel is designed to be applied by brush directly to the surface of the timber. The application should resemble a thick coating of gloss paint. Depending on the density of the timber, it can take several days for the ProBor 20 to soak into the timber.

For effective results wood should be bare and clean. ProBor 20 Gel will not penetrate through paint, varnish, or other treatments which seal the surface of the timber. Such coatings must therefore be removed prior to treatment.

Oldroyd *P* Plaster membrane is a studded polypropylene waterproofing membrane with a special mesh welded to one side, it is fixed to damp, contaminated walls using Oldroyd Plaster Plugs, with the studs facing the wall.This creates an air-gap which allows the wall to breath whilst blocking the passage of moisture. On the reverse side of the membane, the special mesh can be plasterd onto, allowing a dry plaster finish to be achived without the risk of contamination from any damp or salts in the wall. As an alternative to a plaster finish plasterboard can be applied directly to the Oldroyd *P*.
